Maverick Gym
MolyFit@ Maverick
MolyFit@ Maverick Gym is rooted in a brilliant community strength gym in Welwyn Garden City where I spend my evenings supporting powerlifters and strongman athletes.
Maverick gives me the space to offer affordable sports therapy massage that keeps lifters moving well and helps fund my free work with the Parkinson’s community across Hertfordshire. It also provides the room I need to carry out free exercise assessments for people with Parkinson’s.
A True Community Partnership
MolyFit and Maverick have genuine partnership built on shared values and the support of people like owner Ryan who make MolyFit possible.
I run MolyFit as a not-for-profit, in my spare time. I would not be able to run MolyFit without Maverick and its owner Ryan. I charge an affordable rate for sports therapy massage to keep the athletes niggle free and Ryan charges me a small amount for rent.
It’s a great community partnership. The profit I make from Maverick funds the day to day running costs of MolyFit and allows me to offer my services for free in the Parkinson’s community.
For larger projects, I can and have received funding from Parkinson’s UK, Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership and the National Lottery community fund.

Supporting the Champions
Alongside my sports massage treatments I proudly sponsor rising and established athletes including Charlotte Viccars and Zack Hill.
Char is a personal trainer and online coach with a competitive background in gymnastics and cheerleading. She later transitioned into powerlifting, where she has gone on to win British, European, and World titles, alongside multiple British Records. Now competing at a pro level, she was recently crowned WRPF Tested Pro Champion for the second consecutive year.
Zack is an up-and-coming strongman athlete. He transitioned into strongman from elite rugby and has competed at Giants Live, England’s Strongest Man. His work ethic, commitment, power and ferociousness are unstoppable. At only 22 years old, I’m sure he will achieve many great things in strongman.
PowerLifting and Stongman – What’s The Difference?
Although both are strength sports, powerlifting and strongman differ in their goals, events, equipment and physical demands. For those that don’t know the difference:
Powerlifting
Powerlifting focuses on three fixed lifts: Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift. Competitions are standardised and athletes aim for a one‑rep max (1RM) in each lift.
Strongman
Strongman involves varied often unconventional events, which may include; Log press, Atlas stones, Farmer’s carries, Yoke walks, Tire flips and Truck pulls. Events test strength, endurance, and overall athleticism and can be for max weight, max reps, or time.
